Documentation and Shipment Data Errors
Amazon Germany relies heavily on accurate digital shipment data to process inbound inventory efficiently. Fulfillment centers are optimized for automation, and any discrepancy between what is declared in the system and what physically arrives at the warehouse disrupts this process. As a result, documentation errors are treated as operational faults rather than minor administrative issues.
Inaccurate ASN and Shipment Plans
Inbound problems frequently occur when the declared shipment data does not match the actual inventory received. This includes situations where reported quantities differ from the physical units delivered, SKUs are changed or substituted without updating the shipment plan, or carton content information is missing or incorrect. Even small inconsistencies can cause Amazon’s systems to flag the shipment for manual review.
Once a mismatch is detected, Amazon initiates reconciliation procedures that can significantly delay inventory availability. In more serious cases, discrepancy investigations are opened, during which units may remain unreceived or unavailable for sale. These processes not only slow down check-in times but can also increase the risk of inventory being misplaced or incorrectly allocated within the fulfillment network.
